Kallus Racking Up the World Titles in Horsemanship

A local girl won several world championships at the American Paint Horse Association Youth World Championship Show in Fort Worth earlier this summer. Teagan Kallus, a 12-yearold student at La Grange ISD, won team and individual horse knowledge and horse judging titles as well as several riding awards atop her horse Stanley.

Local Softball Players Third at Nationals

The Texas Lady Aces 16-under softball team competed in the 2021 USSSA World Series Open Division in Viera, Florida last week. Playing great teams from all over the country, the small town ladies from (Weimar, La Grange, Bellville, Flatonia, Shiner and Brazos ISDs) brought their “A” game. Great pitching backed up by great defense and timely hitting set the tone early as they went 3-0 in pool play to earn the #1 seed. After losing the second bracket game 2-1 to the eventual champions, they battled back through the losers bracket to bring home 3rd place. Fireman Runs to Safety as Truck Hit While Responding to a Fire

An inattentive driver struck a fire truck on July 4 in Carmine. Carmine firefighters were putting out a 18-wheeler fire on US 290 when the wreck occurred.

The year before, the Schulenburg Shorthorns had gotten as far as the Class A state football semi-final championship, a very respectable showing, indeed. Volleyball National Champs

The TexStar 16-year-old volleyball team won the National title at the AAU Tournament in the Aspire Division in Florida last week, going 14-0 to beat out 134 other teams. Several local athletes are on the team, including La Grange High School’s Hailey Hill and Madison Fritz and Fayetteville’s Brooklyn Jaeger, who was named the MVP. Schulenburg Man Arrested

On Saturday morning, January 13, Schulenburg Police Officers and Deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Texas- Sheriff Keith Korenek responded to a residence in the 300 block of Simpson St. for a report of an active disturbance.

Northern Fayette County Property Being Divided Up at a Fast Rate

Fayette County Inspector Clint Sternadel presented a report to the Commissioners Court last Thursday about property development around the County over the last three years. Sternadel said there were 127 subdivision applications in 2023. That’s up from 116 divisions in 2022. There were 128 divisions in 2021.

On Saturday, January 6, 12 students from the La Grange High School Band competed at the ATSSB Area Central Audition to determine who would make the cut for the All-State 4A Symphonic Band. Fayette County Spring Coyote Control Contest Announced

The Fayette County spring Coyote Control Program begins on Jan. 8, and ends April 30. The contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to assist in the control of coyotes in Fayette County. Coyotes cause predation on livestock and result in economic losses to agricultural producers in the county.
