Northern Fayette County Property Being Divided Up at a Fast Rate

Fayette County Inspector Clint Sternadel presented a report to the Commissioners Court last Thursday about property development around the County over the last three years. Sternadel said there were 127 subdivision applications in 2023. That’s up from 116 divisions in 2022. There were 128 divisions in 2021.

Those 127 divisions last year resulted in 329 new tracts of property. The majority of the divisions (42) and divisions of property (124) were in Pct. 2, which encompasses the Fayetteville, Round Top and Warrenton areas.

In other business at Jan. 11 meeting, Commissioners took the following action:

• Entered into an Agreement for Engineering Services with BEFCO Engineering, Inc., to provide engineering services for Fayette County Master Drainage Plan, a project funded by and related to the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts;

• Approve Fayette County EMS Provider License Renewal packet to be submitted to Texas Department of State Health Services and authorize the County Judge and EMS Director to sign all necessary paperwork;

• Adopted and signed a Resolution to replace the bridge over Haw Creek on Gebhard Rd. in Pct. 2 using federal funds through Texas Department of Transportation’s “Off-System” bridge program;

• Acknowledged the fiber optic upgrade plans from Colorado Valley Telephone Cooperative to bury fiber optic cables and copper cables within the corridors of the following roads: Prihoda Rd., Minarcik Rd., Kovar Rd. (two sections) (Precinct 2); Engle Cutoff Ln., Freyburg Engle Rd. (Precinct 3); and Hranicky Rd (Precinct 4); and

• Authorized the following class requests: Paul Zapalac, Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, to attend the Justice of the Peace Civil Training Seminar April 17-19, 2024, in Austin; Cheryl Treybig, Clerk JP , to attend the Experienced Court Personnel Training seminar February 26-28, 2024 in Galveston; Amber Hielscher, Floodplain Manager, to attend the 36th Annual Texas Floodplain Management Association Conference March 19-22, 2024 in San Antonio; Cassie Austin, Court Administrator, to attend the County Court Assistants Training Conference February 14-16, 2024 in San Marcos; County Judge and Commissioners to attend the V.G. Young Institute of County Government School for Commissioners Court February 2022, 2024 in Bryan.
