Election Day: Landslide in LG, Flatonia Nailbiters

Municipal and school board elections took place on Saturday, May 5.

Voters in the La Grange I.S.D. re-elected Calvin Mersiovsky to Place 6 on the school board. Unofficial results showed Mersiovsky with 433 votes in his favor. He faced opponents Ryan W. Kleiber, who collected 149 votes, and Verlia Mosley-Rhodes, who gathered 76 votes. Dr. Karen Roberts was unopposed for Place 7 on the school board. She gathered 508 votes.

Flatonia I.S.D. held an election for Place 6 on the school board. Christina Manzano won a close race against Jake Bass by a vote of 115 to 106. Blanca Toro-Villanueva was unopposed for Place 7, and she collected 194 votes.

The City of Flatonia held an at-large election to fill two seats on the City Council. Three people ran, with Josh Homan and Allen Kocian winning the election. The results were as follows:

• Josh Homan - 111

• Allen Kocian - 78

• Joanye Eversole - 77 The City of Flatonia initially reported 67 votes for Eversole. An recount resulted in ten more votes in her favor, but it did not affect the results of the extremely close election.

In the Town of Round Top, Lynn W. Conine and Owen Massey won a three-way, atlarge election for two seats on the Town Council. The results were as follows:

• Lynn W. Conine - 27

• Owen Massey - 25

• Karen Duddlesten - 7 Judith Vincent ran unopposed for Round Top Mayor, and she collected 28 votes.

Voters in the City of Fayetteville passed a proposition to reauthorize a special sales tax for street maintenance. The vote was 24-5.
