Fedor Malykhin, a 29-yearold violinist from Russia, arrived at the Round Top Festival Institute last week to take part in the Institute’s six-week educational program and concert series. Fayetteville Advances to Baseball Title Game

The Fayetteville Lions clinched a berth in the 1A state baseball title game by beating Nazareth 4-0 Wednesday at Dell Diamond in Round Rock. The young Lions (18-9), who are mostly freshmen and sophomores, were set to play Thursday at 9 a.m. for the title against Kennard (14-5). Right, Fayetteville’s Landon Urban and Aiden Wicke jump for joy in the outfield after Urban caught the final out of Wednesday’s state semifinal victory. Below, the Fayetteville fans make Dell Diamond a home away from home. The Lions have been to state four times in the last decade, but haven’t won it all since 2012.
World’s Top Young Musicians Arriving in Fayette County Festival Hill Concerts Begin Saturday

Thirty-seven of the top young musicians in the world arrived at the Round Top Festival Institute on Sunday, June 6. They will spend the next six weeks learning from masters of classical music. The Institute holds public concerts at Festival Hill each Saturday evening during the season. The first concert takes place this Saturday, June 12, at 7: 30 p.m. We will profile some of the musicians in upcoming issues of the Record throughout the Festival season. La Grange Chief of Police, David Gilbreath confirmed that on Sunday evening May 30, between 11:30 p.m. and midnight, 40-year-old David Wayne Harrison Jr. of La Grange, was shot and killed at a River Valley Apartment complex on Koenig Lane, in La Grange.

Sonja Swiger, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service entomologist and associate professor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Department of Entomology, Stephenville, said biting mosquitoes are a seasons-long problem that often changes based on the environment.

This year was another good year for Precinct One Road and Bridge. We got a lot accomplished despite weather not cooperating with us. The excessive heat and lack of rain made our job a little more difficult this year.

Precinct 2 was able to rebuild and pave approximately 15 miles of road. We also replaced 3 large bridges within the precinct. The County voted to improve and expand the Precinct 2 area recycling facility, and with the assistance of Precinct 4 Commissioner Drew Brossmann and his employees, the operation was a huge success.
