Bernsens Grow an 11-Pound Sugar Beet

Brianne Bernsen sent us this photo of her boys and a huge sugar beet they picked from their garden in Plum. Bernsen said the beet weighed 11 lbs. and measured 36 inches in circumference. “The seed for this was mixed in with our Detroit red beets and we didn’t know what it was for a while. It’s actually two years old,” she said.
