Woman Saved After Getting Knocked to Floor of Car

A Fayetteville woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident near the intersection of SH 71 and Von Minden Road in La Grange Tuesday morning, May 5.

The accident happened around 11:15 a.m. According to a crash report filed by La Grange Police Officer Bret Meinardus, 75-year-old Dianne Marie Allen of Fayetteville was traveling west in the SH 71 feeder road in a silver 1996 Lincoln Town Car.

Meinardus’ report stated that a witness saw the Lincoln swerve off the road and into a grassy area between the feeder road and SH 71. The witness said the Lincoln went airborne, turned sideways and struck a “Do Not Enter” sign on the side of the exit ramp before coming to rest. Allen stated that a another vehicle was coming toward her head-on and she swerve to miss. However, Meinardus stated that the witness reported seeing no other vehicle.

La Grange Volunteer Fire Department and Fayette County EMS arrived to assist. They found the woman on the floorboard of the passenger side of the vehicle.

Fayette County EMS transported Allen to St. Mark’s Hospital in La Grange with injuries that were not life-threatening.
