For the year 2023 we were able to rework 10.15 miles of road. That means we hauled out base material, ground up, laid down, and two shots of chip seal on those 10.15 miles of road. We dozed out and reshaped 1.25 miles of fence lines. Also, we were able to make four passes again this year with our shredders. Precinct 4 has 196 miles of roadway to cover so that is a lot of shredding in one year. We have continued to keep up with the brush cutting of trees along the roadways and have 85 percent of those cleaned and trimmed.
We were able to upgrade our shop facilities with ARP grant funds. We replaced our out dated sliding doors with larger roll up garage doors. This will help with ventilation during the brutal summer heat. It will also allow us to fit our large equipment into the shop for repairs and maintenance.
Precinct 4 had several bridge projects completed this year. The TxDOT bridge grant project completed Seydler Rd, Anders Bottom Rd, East Radhost School Rd, Bryant Rd, and Holub Rd. This is a tremendous savings to the people of Fayette County and I would like to thank TxDOT for their continued support. We are also replacing the bridge on Munke Rd. and should have that project finished within the next few weeks.
The new EMS station was completed and looks great. We built the driveway along with the parking lot. This is a great addition to our community and will help serve our area well into the future.
Pct. 4 crew along with assistance from Pct. 2, were able to pour a concrete slab and erect the new metal building that is used for the recycling center in Warrenton. This is a great example of our crews working together and doing these jobs in-house to save tax payer money.
I would also like to thank the wonderful hardworking crew that I have at Pct. 4. Without their determination and work skills, none of this would be possible. As you can see, we accomplished a lot through our hard work. To the residents of Fayette County I would like to say thank you for allowing me to serve as your commissioner. It has truly been an honor and I look forward to continue making great strides for our county in the future. My door is always open and I am only a call away for any of your concerns. May God continue to bless your family this year and may he continue to bless Fayette County.
