1973: Gypsies Suspected in a Robbery of a Local Woman

May 1, 1973 An elderly Engle lady was the victim of a theft of about $70 Saturday afternoon, but the sheriff’s office reported no arrests had yet been made. Two women and a man reportedly drove up to the victim’s house in a red car.

Faison House Fried Chicken Drive-Thru Fundraiser May 16

The Smith McMillan Chapter of the Texas Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is sponsoring a fundraiser for the Faison House in La Grange on Tuesday, May 16, from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church parking lot (across from H-E-B in La Grange). The drive-thru features a chicken dinner with red potatoes, green beans, grilled, squash, roll, and cobbler for only $12.

Cattlemen Serve Hamburgers at County Junior Livestock Show

KCs: Keeping MS 150 Cyclists Fed for 39 Years

Dating back to the very first MS 150 bikeathon in La Grange 39 years ago, the Knights of Columbus here have been a key part of helping the benefit bike ride succeed. (That first year the cyclists even slept in the KC Hall and the KCs made them soup and sandwiches).
