We missed a couple of local events in the listing of church picnics in Friday’s paper. Be sure to mark these in your calendar as well:

Waldeck Lutheran Church Picnic (6915 Waldeck Church Ln., Ledbetter, TX 78946) Barbecue pork steak meal with green beans, potatoes and sauce for $15 a plate, serving from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., dine-in or take-out. Sunday, Sept. 3

Holy Cross Homecoming Picnic at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda (600 FM 1482, Warda, TX 78960) Barbecue by the pound sold at the pits starting around 10 a.m. Ladies Aid selling sides: homemade noodles, pinto beans, cole slaw and bake sale (no paper goods). Country store, silent auction, barrel train ride and other games for the kids. Snow cones, nachos, french fries and hamburgers available in the afternoon. Live auction around 5 p.m.
