Year After Tornado, First Baptist Poised to Hold First Service in New Location

This Sunday at 10:30 a.m. the First Baptist Church will hold their first service at their new location, 5000 SH 71 West, just across the highway from McCourt and Sons Equipment and next door to Advance Hydrocarbon. On the location sits a Discipleship Building and a pavilion. The pavilion is their temporary meeting space until their new Worship Center can be built in the next nine months.

Pop Up Antiques Show This Weekend Along Hwy. 237

Merchants along SH 237 from Warrenton to Carmine, hungry for customers after the cancellation of the spring market, have organized a four-day “pop-up” show at their regular venues. The event is meant to generate business where very little has occurred since the pandemic “stay home” edict was issued three months ago. The roadside attractions opened Thursday and will run through Sunday.

Opening Day for La Grange Pool is Saturday

The City of La Grange plans to open the pool on Saturday, June 6 with COVID-19 protocols in place. On opening weekend, the pool will be in operation from 3-7 p.m. both days. The city will limit pool capacity for the first few weeks. Beginning on June 10, the pool will be open from 9 a.m. - noon and then from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. Wednesday - Saturday and 3-7 p.m. on Sunday.

Deer Causes Rollover Near Ellinger

At about 4:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, the Ellinger VFD was dispatched to a vehicle roll over in the eastbound lane of State Hwy. 71 between FM 955 and Krenek Road.
