Deer Causes Rollover Near Ellinger

The Ellinger VFD was dispatched to a vehicle roll over in the east bound lane of State Hwy71 between FM 955 and Krenek Road. The fireman found an eighteen wheeler on its side. It had been loaded with sand and overturned as it swerved to miss a white tail deer.
Deer Causes Rollover Near Ellinger

At about 4:30 a.m. Monday, June 1, the Ellinger VFD was dispatched to a vehicle roll over in the eastbound lane of State Hwy. 71 between FM 955 and Krenek Road. Upon arrival at the scene the fireman found an 18-wheeler on its side. It was had been loaded with sand and overturned as it swerved to miss a whitetail deer. After authorities investigated the accident the VFD worked to clear the roadway of sand and other debris. There were no injuries.

Suspects At Large

In the wee hours of June 1, the Fayette County Sheriff’s office advised the public that five escaped subjects were at large in the Ellinger area. Two persons had been apprehended shortly after the confrontation with the deputies, but marked units as well as undercover units were patrolling the streets in Ellinger looking for the suspects still at large. Apparently law enforcement was in pursuit of a vehicle of interest from Austin when the vehicle was eventually stopped in Ellinger. The subjects were reported to be wearing dark long sleeved clothing when they fled the vehicle. Residents were advised to be on the lookout for suspicious persons and report the information to local authorities.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will be holding its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 9 at 7 p.m. This will be a virtual meeting on Zoom. SLM Reopens

The Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County (SLM) are planning to reopen its Fayetteville and Rutersville sanctuaries for worship on Sunday, June 7- Holy Trinity Sunday. St. John Lutheran in Rutersville will worship at 10 a.m. with graduate recognition; worship in Fayetteville will be at 10:30 a.m. St. John Lutheran in Warrenton will resume regular worship services on Sunday, June 28 at 8:30 a.m. with graduate recognition. St. John Lutheran in Ellinger will remain closed a bit longer. Worship services will still be aired at noon on KTIM 89.1 and recorded for viewing on Facebook - www.sharedlutheranministry.org.

Guidelines

As the SLM returns to worshipping together it will follow some new guidelines. Worshippers are asked to bring a mask and wear it when entering the church. Temperatures will be taken with a “no touch” thermometer upon entering at Rutersville and hand sanitizer will be available in the narthex. Social distancing should be practiced before and after the services as well as during worship—sit in places indicated. Upon entering the narthex worship participants should pick up their bulletins, collect the individual factory wrapped communion, and leave offering in the collection plate upon arrival or departure. The liturgy will be spoken and the hymns sung, but no sharing of the peace. Pastors will greet worships practicing social distancing. Participants 65 years old or older, sick or otherwise compromised are asked to consider listening from home.

Honoring Graduates

The SLM wants to honor and congratulate its 2020 graduates. Graduates from Fayetteville are Miles Gillette, Kate Holloway, and Kyler Vasut; graduates from Rutersville are Bre Jordy and Garrett Noak; and those from Warrenton are Mason and Dustin Hoefelmeyer. Rutersville will honor the graduates on June 7 and Fayetteville and Warrenton will celebrate with the graduates on June 28.

Second Chance

Second Chance in La Grange will be reopening to accept donations on June 1, 2020. The sales store will reopen the first weekend in June. Current mandates set forth by the governor and county judge will be followed. Customers will be required to wear masks and use hand sanitizer. Restrooms will be locked and unavailable. Children under the age of 16 will not be allowed, and no shopping carts will be available. Customers may bring their own shopping bags. St. Paul Lutheran in La Grange will be the first church to work as the reopening takes place. The SLM will work on July 7.

Ellinger Sewer and Water

The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 8. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
