I Hate Daylight Saving Time

To the editor: I agree with the letter regarding the Daylight-Saving Time. I remember living in Houston at the time when it went into effect in 1970 and the little kids were having to stand on the street in the dark to catch the school bus.

Insult to Voters

To the editor: Mr. Rodibaugh I am writing in response to your letter last Friday to explain something to you that should be evident considering the results of the recent election.

Planter Box Fiasco

To the Editor: We all have our take on the planter built in La Grange to attempt to decrease jay-walking from the courthouse to businesses across Travis St. And all are free to feel for or against the building of that planter.

My Drainage Solutions

To the Editor: Citizens of La Grange: I am very concerned about the drainage problem in La Grange. I do not believe the city council takes this problem seriously and would rather devote their time and our tax dollars to somebody’s “great idea.” They have been working on these flower boxes since last summer.

Governor Abbott Should Be Ashamed

To the Editor: Governor Greg Abbott should be ashamed of himself. Even if his actions regarding the school voucher issue are not illegal, they certainly are unethical and a prime example of crooked politics.

Post Office Confusion

To the editor: Recently, I went to the Schulenburg Post Office to mail a book to a friend; as I entered, I asked the clerk if they still took media mail. The answer was “yes.” I put my book, which was securely wrapped in a padded mailing envelope, on the counter.

Taxes

I have spent the morning thinking about taxes. It is so much easier thinking about them, than working on figuring out how to pay them, how much to pay, where I will get the money to pay them, or if I want to reside in jail for skipping my annual dues payment.

Day Care Deserves Better

To the Editor: The fact that the Remnant Church can’t help keep the Day Care (so many rely on) open is beyond belief. Seems like a group who care for people and worship God would find it in their hearts to come to the aid of these poor children, not kick them out after all this time over a few dollars.

The managing partners of Mullins Prairie Store on FM 155 between La Grange and Weimar announced they will cease operations after this weekend. “This economy has not been kind to anyone, but the consequences of closing down outweigh the opportunities to stay open,” the business said in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 19.
