Insult to Voters

To the editor:

Mr. Rodibaugh I am writing in response to your letter last Friday to explain something to you that should be evident considering the results of the recent election. There is a very small group of people running the Republican Party that are at times perceived as being very arrogant. Your remark, “Republican voters in Fayette County favored Frank’s opponent and this seems evidence of a concerning level of ignorance,” speaks to that point. You literally called 2,929 (61.35% of Republican) voters who are veterans, bankers, beauticians, teachers, carpenters, business owners, retirees, farmers, first responders, and so forth ignorant. You can’t wonder why your people lost when you’re that out of touch. Let me explain something to you. Republican voters and people in general in Fayette County will not tolerate people that look down their nose at them with a condescending attitude and a sense of entitlement. Those are the two reasons you and your candidate lost. This very entitlement and attitude is why the majority of young and middle aged republicans in this county refused to participate in the party during my predecessor’s tenure. It is not consistent with the culture of our county. Next time you want to go pointing the finger at ignorance, go find a mirror, you may just realize that maybe your time could be better spent than attacking a fellow member of the party you claim to represent.

What I find cute though is that the day after the election, the current Republican chairman sent out a mass email to the Republican Party saying what “a sad day for this county” that I had been elected. The email was sent from the official Fayette County Republican Party account and continued a pattern of using Fayette County Republican Party resources for her personal gain. You again stated that the Fayette County voters had a concerning level of ignorance and a few years ago Hillary Clinton called Republican voters a “basket full of deplorables.” What it was I found cute is that you three all have something in common when it comes to your disdain for the majority of Republican voters.
