My Drainage Solutions

To the Editor:

Citizens of La Grange: I am very concerned about the drainage problem in La Grange. I do not believe the city council takes this problem seriously and would rather devote their time and our tax dollars to somebody’s “great idea.” They have been working on these flower boxes since last summer. But now they have changed their minds because they didn’t think their dumb idea through, they forgot that plants need water and drainage to survive, just like we do. Now they have rethought this brilliant idea and have decided to create artwork out of it. This is an additional expense to the amount that they have already blown on this nonsense. I think they should relocate the flower pots to stop the rushing water at the source, to direct the flowing water to the highway. This would solve the drainage problem in La Grange because then the Texas Department of Highways could fix our drainage problem without even knowing it.

I am not trying to be selfish but if the highway idea does not work out, the concrete boxes could be used to block my front door from the rushing flow. Seriously, the city already has plans to correct the drainage but they complain of no money. They would rather make donations to others the priority.

It will take every citizen to get involved but we can do it. Our new city manager, mayor, and all city council members can: 1) Buy $1,000 of scratch off tickets or Lotto tickets and donate all winning proceeds to the drainage issue 2) Have bake sales. 3) Have drive through meals at the city hall

4) Offer babysitting, pet sitting, or elder care 5) Offer yard work 6) Offer house cleaning Options 2-6 are a win-win. You get something for your dollar and the drainage problem gets fixed.
