Adult Tech Training

The La Grange Noon Lions club meets on Thursdays from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club. Speakers for May are May 9, Jack Thompson, La Grange City Manager; May 16, Lindsey Kirschner, Hospice of Brazos Valley; May 23, Martin Horst, TxDOT area engineer; May 30, John Etue, La Grange Little League.

Join the Fayette County Library for Adult Technology Training in La Grange on Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. If your computer is giving you problems, bring it along. Six seats are available. Registration is required. Call (979) 968-3765 to sign up.

Fajita Dinner

The Pilot & Anchor Club of La Grange is holding a drive-thru only fajita dinner at the La Grange High School Cafeteria on Wednesday, May 8 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Plates are $14 and include a fajita chicken and beef meat mix, tortillas, rice, beans, guacamole and chips. Tickets are on sale at Le Petite Gourmet Shop on the square in La Grange or from any LGHS Anchor Club member. Text (979) 249-6487 for tickets or to set up a free delivery for 10 or more dinners. Funds raised will support the scholarship program of these two 501(c)3 non-profit groups.

The Lions Sealy Dance Club is having a dance on Saturday, May 4, at the Sealy American Legion Hall. The band, Heartland Texas, will be providing live music from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The public is always welcome.

Muldoon Museum

The Muldoon Museum in Muldoon will be open Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.

American Legion, Auxiliary Meeting

TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 8, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary Scholarships will be awarded to the recipients by the Unit prior to the meeting. The Unit will review and update the Constitution, By-Laws and the Standing Rules. The Unit’s election of Officers’ will also take place. Members are encouraged to attend and new potential members are always invited to attend. A light meal will be served.

La Grange Senior Citizen Game Day

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center Inc. will host the first game day on Thursday, May 9, from 9 until 11:30 a.m. at the City of La Grange Randolph Recreation Center. Game Day will be held every second and fourth Thursday of each month. All senior citizens are welcome. For more information, contact Liz Tannler at (281) 543-1976.

Pie Contest and Auction

Weimar Encore Lions Club will host a pie contest and auction Saturday, May 11 at the Weimar City Park Pavillion. Drop your pies off from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club. Celebrate Mother’s Day

Bethlehem AME Church located at 5218 FM 3233 in La Grange will celebrate Mother’s Day on Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m. with special guest Pastor/Minister of music Leo Vaughns Jr. from St. Mark Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth. Praise God for Mothers.

Chess Tournament

The La Grange Chess Club is sponsoring a chess tournament to benefit Fayette County Habitat for Humanity. The tournament will be held on Saturday, May 11 at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. There will be 3 rounds (G15). Players will compete in two age divisions; primary ages 5-16 and senior ages 17 and up. Entry is $15 and may be paid at check-in at 9 a.m. Pre-registration is highly recommended as space is limited.
