The city pool will open up on Friday, June 2 at 1 p.m. Regular operation hours for the summer will be 1 p.m.

Rotten Awning on the Square Draws Attention

A rotten awning on the building at 235 W. Travis in La Grange is about to fall to the ground. The awning got a lot of attention last week after an insurance agent who works next door posted a picture of it on Facebook.

Czech History Celebrated

The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange held its annual Slavnost May Fest on Sunday, May 21. The event celebrates Czech culture and the Czech immigrants who settled in Texas.

La Grange senior C.J. Davis signed a letter of intent to play football with Blinn College in Brenham. La Grange High School held a signing ceremony for him inside the High School Gym last Friday, May 19.

Fayetteville to Face D’Hanis at Texas State University

The Fayetteville baseball team will get its rematch against the D’Hanis team that knocked them out of the playoffs last year. The Lions will face D’Hanis in a bestof- three series for a berth at the state tournament.

Kenedy Eliminates Flatonia Baseball

The Flatonia baseball team was eliminated by Kenedy in the regional quarterfinals over the weekend. In a best-of-three series Kenedy won Game 1 4-2 and Game 3 by a 7-5 score.

LG Seniors Receive More Than $1 Million in Scholarships

La Grange High School held its annual scholarship presentation for graduating seniors on Tuesday, May 16. The students received a combined total of $1,013,838 in scholarships.

Arrests Made in Road Rage Incident, Drug Possession

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that a Houston man is in jail for numerous offenses after a road rage incident on Interstate 10 on Sunday. Deputy Herman Olvera responded to an incident involving a new model Ford Edge traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 that was reportedly shooting a handgun out the window.

Record Cruises Along the Rhine River

In April, Jackie and Steven Harker of Cistern completed a cruise along the Rhine River on the Viking Rolf. The trip began in Amsterdam and ended with a few extra days in Lucerne.
