Women in the La Grange area.“I want to grow closer to God.” Have you ever found yourself thinking that? Community Bible Study (CBS) is the start to get you there. You’ll be around women who are dedicated and serious in studying the Bible that transforms lives. Our study of the book of Matthew starts Aug. 28. The Fayette Area Parkinson’s Support Group will hold their May meeting on Thursday, May 16, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center in La Grange. We discuss the illness of PD some who have been diagnosed, some think they will be diagnosed, and some who have lived with it for years. Patients as well as their caregivers are encouraged to attend. The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 15, at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club, 575 Country Club Dr. in La Grange, from 11a.m. -1 p.m. Check-in will begin at 10:45 a.m. with an option to purchase lunch for $20 inclusive, payable by cash or check. A short business meeting will commence at 11:15 a.m. followed by our speaker Ms. Margaret Byfield, Executive Director of American Stewards. Learn about Biden’s 30 by 30 Landgrab and how American Stewards are leading a grassroots effort to private property rights. Margaret was raised on a large cow calf operation in central Nevada purchased by her parents in 1978. Her family experienced unprecedented regulatory pressures that eventually led to Hage vs Unites States, the first federal lands grazing case filed in the United States Court of Federal Claims. The case was in litigation for 27 years, during which time Margaret launched the property rights organization. Margaret works directly with policy leaders at the local, State, and Federal level helping to advance strategies that protect the production of America’s food, fiber, minerals, and energy. La Grange Senior Citizens Trip

The La Grange Senior Citizen Activity Center group will be taking a trip to Cuero on Wednesday, May 15 to visit the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum. The group will leave at 8:15 a.m. from the Randolph Recreation Center parking lot, returning around 3:30 p.m. Transportation will be provided by the city van and some carpooling. Entrance to the museum will be paid by the Senior Citizen Activity Center. Lunch will be on your own. After lunch, the group will visit The Pharmacy and Medical Museum of Texas. Annual KC Shrimp Boil in Fayetteville Bring your family and friends to the 24th Annual Fayetteville/ Ellinger KC Shrimp Boil Friday, May 17 under the pavilion at St. John’s in Fayetteville. Armed Forces Dinner and Dance

Armed Forces Appreciation Dinner and Dance honoring the service and sacrifice of our veterans and their families will be held Saturday, May 18 from 5-10:30 p.m. at the Flatonia American Legion Post located at 1225 E. Hwy. 90 in Flatonia. There are some free donated tickets still available. Priority will be given to Veterans, Veteran spouses and their caregiver. Food Bank Truck

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM2145 on Saturday, May 18 from 10-11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy clean reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB. When clients are registering, vote if you want to continue walk-up or would prefer to convert to drive-thru method.

Bingo For Seniors in Ledbetter

Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) at the Ledbetter Community Center will be held Sunday, May 19 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5/card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks will be available for a free-will donation.

Mt. Calvary Picnic and Auction

The Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church 29th annual picnic and auction is scheduled for Sunday, May 19 at the La Grange KC Hall. Worship starts at 9 a.m. followed by live music, meal, auction, raffle, and children’s activities for the rest of the day. Barbecue brisket and sausage meal with buttered potatoes, green beans, and homemade bread will begin at 11 a.m. Dine-in or drive-thru plates are all $16. Purchase meal/raffle tickets at La Grange Chevron, Lukas Bakery, Weikel’s Bakery, Mt. Calvary Preschool, or at the door on picnic Sunday. Come join us for an enjoyable day of Christian fellowship.

On Tuesday, May 21, Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary will meet at 5 p.m. Post and Auxiliary will hear a Loyalty Day program at 6 p.m. followed by a light meal, after which the Post will meet. Potential members are invited to attend.

The Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) will be accepting applications for the 2024 Community Impact Grant Cycle, starting June 1, with a deadline of June 30. All registered nonprofits serving 80 miles outside of La Grange, are encouraged to apply. Widowed Spouses Support Group

Loss of a Child Support Group

Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Marine Corps League Meeting
