Arrests Made in Road Rage Incident, Drug Possession

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that a Houston man is in jail for numerous offenses after a road rage incident on Interstate 10 on Sunday.

Deputy Herman Olvera responded to an incident involving a new model Ford Edge traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 that was reportedly shooting a handgun out the window. Deputy Olvera located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop near Schulenburg.

The occupants, two males and a woman traveling with a small child, at first denied any involvement in any shooting or weapons being in the vehicle. Upon further investigation Deputy Olvera located a 9 mm handgun in the back seat of the vehicle and marijuana.

When confronted with the findings, the driver admitted to firing the handgun out the window after being cut-off by a couple motorists. The driver was also found to be prohibited from possessing a firearm due to being a convicted felon.

Arrested and charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm, Deadly Conduct, Endangering a Child and Possession of Marijuana was 35 year old Charlie Ray Sheppard Jr. of Houston.

On Saturday, May 20, Deputy Austin Moore was on patrol on SH 159 in the La Grange area.

Moore initiated a pedestrian stop on a male subject walking towards La Grange. Moore believed the subject was under the influence of an unknown narcotic.

While investigating the subject for possible intoxication Deputy Moore learned the subject, Austin Busby, 22, of La Grange. Moore arrested Austin Busby, 22 of La Grange, on Fayette County Felony Warrant Motion to Adjudicate Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1<1G.

Later that night on Sunday, May 21, at approximately 0110 hours Deputy Moore initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the La Grange area. After further investigation Moore arrested the driver, Samuel Segura, 20, of Giddings for possession of methamphetamine. Jail staff notified Deputies that Segura was uncooperative and refused to participate in the search. Deputy Moore and Schulenburg Officer B. Powe arrived at the facility to assist.

Segura resisted the search and fought with all law enforcement officers. A larger amount of methamphetamine and a bag of marijuana was located that was concealed inside of Segura’s underwear.
