NVCC Center Hopes to Re-Open in June

Navidad Valley Community Connections (NVCC) has a variety of masks available. If you need a mask, contact Nancy Hay at (979) 561-5092 to order some or arrange an appointment to see what is available. They are at the Crafty Corner location, 1202 Kessler Ave., Suite 202, but the building is closed so a call is necessary. Masks can also be customized to fit children. The center has recieved an order of elastic, so if you prefer a mask with elastic ear loops instead of ties, that can be arranged. faithful stitchers are Debby Florus, Kathy Bertsch, Betty Gabler and Sandy Colvin. These masks are three layers, and follow the CDC pattern. A free will donation is asked if possible.

Hospice Brazos Valley, Atlas Belle Studio Selling Masks to Help Support Local Seniors

Hospice Brazos Valley and Atlas Belle Studio have partnered together to create the Brazos Valley Hero Mask Project. The purpose of this endeavor is to encourage wearing a mask in public to slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community, while also helping to provide masks to area seniors. Each cloth mask will have a “Wearing is Caring” logo and with each purchase of a Brazos Valley Hero Mask ($16) a local senior will be provided with a cloth mask at no cost to them. Masks will be distributed by Hospice Brazos Valley to area seniors ages 55+.

Fayette County Fair Association Names 2020 Scholarship Winners

Youth and education are the primary objectives of the Fayette County Fair Association. In 2020 the Fair Association will again award 20 scholarships to seniors from five Fayette County High Schools which include Fayetteville, Flatonia, La Grange, Round Top-Carmine and Schulenburg. These scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 each, totaling $20,000 for 2020.

More Church Picnics Cancelled

A number of area church festivals have announced they will not be holding their annual summer events because of the coronavirus precautions. Recent cancellations include St. John’s fourth of July festival, and the Plum and Moravia church picnics.
