Ellinger Family Honored at Texas Family Land Heritage Program

Michael and Marilyn Hoelscher Melnar, owners of FHM Ellinger Holdings, were recognized at the 49th Annual Family Land Heritage Program in Austin on October 18. The property has been in the family since 1854. Marilyn is the great-great-great granddaughter of the founder.

Hostyn Home, Dogs Lost in Fire

James and Kathy Fox of Hostyn lost their home and most of their belongings in a fire Thursday afternoon, Dec. 14. The couple’s two dogs were inside the home when the fire started, and they presumably perished.

Painting Donated to Fayette Heritage Museum

The Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives recently received a donation of an oil painting by the noted early Texas artist, Hugo David Pohl. Pohl was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1878 and studied art there, as well as in New York and at the Académie Julien in Paris.

USDA Has Changed What Planting Zone We’re In
