Resources For Successful Living Begins Sept. 17

A new 2024-2025 Lunch and Learn series called “Resources for Successful Living” will start Sept. 17. This monthly event will be held on the third Tuesday of every month from 12:05 - 12:50 p.m., except Dec. and Jan.. The program will be held at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane, Room 104 in La Grange. The Fayette County Committee on Aging along with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County will be hosting the monthly events which will provide resources and education for successful everyday living.

New La Grange City Manager Promises 'Full Aggression' After Tourism/Retail

The new La Grange City Manager, Jack Thompson, has some big plans for economic development in La Grange. During a budget workshop with the City Council on Monday, Thompson said the La Grange Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is “going full aggression after retail and tourism.” Thompson said attracting new businesses to town will be the major focus for the EDC moving forward.

The World Comes to Feast in Praha – for the 169th Year!

The 169th annual Praha Picnic took place on Aug. 15, as it does every year, on the Feast Day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This year it fell on a Thursday. But that didn’t keep many people away. A huge crowd showed up to enjoy a lunch of fried chicken and Praha’s famous beef stew (far right). The Ennis Czech Boys, Texas Sound Check and the Lost Cause Band provided music throughout the day for dancing (right).
