Native Landscaping Lunch and Learn Series Continues

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn educational program is a series of 9 informational meetings designed to provide gardening or general landscaping information for homeowners. Fayette County Master Gardeners plan and present a variety of programs from experts in the area and across the state. This series is designed with the homeowner in mind; bring your lunch and learn about a variety of topics that help you have a more productive garden, prettier flower beds, or how to better understand your landscape ecosystems.

The topic this month, “Native Landscaping,” is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 12 and the guest speaker is Master Naturalist Carol Daniels. A native landscape provides so much more than just waterconserving features. Native landscapes provide habitats for wildlife and encourage the presence of native insects and microorganisms. Establishing native plants in your garden or landscape usually requires every bit as much work as establishing non-native species. However, once your native plants are established, you will see not only savings in time, energy and money, but also an aesthetic sense of place only regional native plants can provide.

Registration begins at 11:50 a.m. - 12:05 p.m. and the program lasts till 12:50 p.m. The Lunch-N-Learn Series are held at the Fayette County Agricultural Building, 255 Svoboda Lane in La Grange. All Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn programs are free to the public and you are encouraged to bring your own lunch and drink. Light refreshments are available by Master Gardener hospitality hosts.
