Make time for yourself and enjoy Yoga at the Library on Tuesday, Nov. 12, starting at 5:30 p.m. Yoga is known to help lower stress levels, improve circulation, flexibility, and more. After every yoga session, you can de-stress and unwind even more with a Sound Bowl Bath. Immerse yourself in the calming vibrations of crystal singing bowls for a deeply relaxing and meditative experience. Yoga at the Library and Sound Bath is every second and last Tuesday of the month. Yoga is from 5:30-6 p.m., and the Sound Bowl Bath is from 6-6:30 p.m. All library programs are free and open to the public. Please stop by the Fayette Public Library for a monthly calendar! The American Legion Post #102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit #102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. Following the joint meal, the Post and Auxiliary Unit will then conduct their respective meetings. Members are encouraged to attend, some items on the agenda for discussion are those of the Christmas Veterans’ visits, etc. Potential new members are always welcome, come see what and where we can be of assistance to our Veterans.

For the Record on Page A2 & A5 The La Grange Senior Citizens fall meeting and luncheon will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 East Pearl Street in La Grange, on Thursday, Nov. 14. Registration will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Cash door prizes will be awarded to ten lucky attendees who have registered by 10:30 a.m. The meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be Dana Platt, Community Engagement Director, for the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS). A chicken fried chicken lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. for $5. Membership fees of $5 for the year will be collected from those who did not attend the Spring meeting/luncheon held earlier this year in April. Members may also sign up for a day trip to the Unity Theatre in Brenham to see the Christmas comedy Fruitcakes scheduled for Sunday afternoon, Dec. 8.
Food Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank mobile food pantry will be at Waldeck Lutheran Church on Nov. 16. It is a drive-thru only from 10-11 a.m.
Turkey and Dressing Dinner
A turkey and dressing dinner fundraiser for Cristo Iglesia Redimidos Por Cristo made by Mama Reina (of Riverside Cafe) will be held Saturday, Nov. 16. Pick up your plates at 121 S. College from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 a plate and available at the door. Meal includes turkey and dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans, gravy, cranberry sauce and bread.
Texas German Society
The Fayette County Chapter of the Texas German Society will meet on Monday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center. Glenn Altwein will be the guest speaker. Please bring a dessert or snack for refreshments.
VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary to Meet On Tuesday, Nov. 19, Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary of La Grange will meet in the VFW Post Home at the La Grange Fairgrounds. The Auxiliary meets at 5 p.m.; and at 6 p.m. the Post and Auxiliary will enjoy a meal after which the Post meets. Potential members are invited to attend.
Zoom Talk: “The Battle of Adobe Walls” On Tuesday, Nov. 19 at noon via zoom, Tammy Scarbrough, Lead Educator/Interpreter at the Goodnight Ranch Historic Site will discuss the Battle of Adobe Walls. She will explain that how after years of hostile actions from Native Americans and broken treaties by the U.S. government, things came to a head in the Summer of 1874 culminating the Second Battle of Adobe Walls. The Comanche force of 700 warriors, led by Quanah Parker, faced off against a group of 28 buffalo hunters and was the catalyst for the Red River War. Christmas Craft Show
New Life Methodist Church located at 1215 N. Von Minden will have over 26 booths filled with handcrafted items, quilting, knitting, jewelry, wood crafts, painting, primitive arts and baked goods on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Lunch and desserts will be available.
Bingo in Ledbetter
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. Cost is $5/card and covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks available for freewill donation.
Fried Chicken Dinner
The Holy Cross Couple’s Club will host their fried chicken dinner on Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds in Warda. Drive-thru only from 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. All plates are $15 each and include fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Tickets are available in the church office or at La Grange Chevron. Advance purchase only by Monday, Nov. 18.
KC BBQ Turkeys
La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 16-18 lbs. and cost $60. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 19 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 27 between 4 to 6 p.m.
Pork Steak Dinner
CourtAnnunciation No. 1962, Catholic Daughters of theAmericas, will hold their barbecue pork steak supper on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Cost is $14 per plate. A bake sale held in conjunction will support CDA charities.
