The 150 Years Sesquicentennial of the Flatonia Masonic Lodge No. 436 A.F. & A.M. chartered on June 22, 1875 will be held on Saturday, Sept. 27 in Flatonia. Join for breakfast from 8-9 a.m. with the call to order at 9 a.m.

Principal John Pineda of La Grange High School announced that Eleanor Carey has been named a Commended Student in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program. A letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented to her.

The La Grange City Council hired the architecture, engineering and design firm Parkhill to develop a facilities assessment and improvement plan for the police station, city hall and the Randolph Recreation Center.

Superintendent Andy McHazlett reminded the La Grange school board that the new four-day weeks will be starting next week with Oct. 3 being the first Friday off.

The mysterious creature that appeared on a game camera in Dubina last August will be featured on Discovery Channel’s Expedition X next Wednesday. Michael “Dumas” Demel of Schulenburg first reported the sighting to the Record last August.
