These Deputies were selected due to their performance in responding to and investigating a case on Nov. 6.

Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Clear Lake Pines Subdivision near Winchester after a homeowner reported a severely injured male on her front porch.

Deputies arrived and located a male victim, who was covered in blood and suffering from a gunshot wound. An investigation was conducted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and The Texas Rangers. Evidence and investigative leads identified Norman Robert Hicks, 20, as the suspect of the shooting. Investigators determined that Hicks also resided within the Clear Lake Pines Subdivision.

Hicks was subsequently arrested and charged with, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Aggravated Robbery, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Sheriff Korenek is proud to acknowledge the effort and contribution of these personnel for their outstanding performance in handling this case.
