La Grange Optimist Club athletes competed at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) Summer Games State Track and Field Meet this past weekend in College Station after advancing through local and regional competition.

The Small Aquatic League of Texas (SALT) proudly represented the Lone Star State at the 2026 State Games of America in State College, Pennsylvania, sending a team of 21 swimmers to compete against the nation’s best amateur athletes. Swimmers from all 50 states gathered for one of the country’s premier amateur sporting events, making the competition one of the toughest many of these young athletes have ever faced.

The La Grange Leopards, and most football teams across Texas, began football practice Monday. The Leps have been practicing beginning at 6 a.m. every day to avoid the heat, and stay in compliance with new, stricter, state regulations about practicing in the Texas heat.

Students in any major can audition for scholarship opportunities and enjoy an affordable residential college experience on the Brenham Campus High school graduates interested in continuing their musical careers still have time to join the Blinn College Buccaneer Band for the fall 2026 semester.

This Monday marked the first day high school football team could hold full-squad workouts, and La Grange wasted no time, with varsity and JV beginning at 6 a.m. Monday. Schulenburg and Flatonia join the Leps in navigating exciting new districts this season. Scrimmages will begin as early as next week, with season openers Aug. 28.

The Serbin Jackrabbits defeated the Flatonia Wildcats 15-0 in five innings, to claim the 2026 Community League Baseball Championship, on Sunday at Voelker-Koether Field in La Grange. Serbin reached the final game with a convincing win over Weimar in the semi-final round, while Flatonia edged out New Ulm last week, 4-3 to reach their first CLB championship game since joining the league four years ago.

The Texas Sports Writers Association has named its All State Baseball Teams. Several Fayette County kids made the cut.

The biennial event will bring together approximately 12,500 athletes from all 50 states to compete in one of the nation’s premier amateur sporting events.

The Schulenburg Lady Horn Volleyball Team is proud to announce that they are a recipient of the 20252026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. It is the 13th consecutive year that the Lady Horns have received the award.

Twenty-seven studentathletes from the Angelo State University Rams and Rambelles track and field teams have been named 2026 NCAA Division II All-Academic Athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
