Competitors Brave 100 Kms Of the Colorado River Here

The Colorado River 100k was held Saturday Sept. 12 as solo kayakers and tandem and solo canoeists raced from Bastrop to La Grange.

There were a total of 31 entries. Check-points/re-supply stations were in Smithville and at Plum Park.

The fastest competitor was solo kayaker Isaac Wiegman, who zoomed down the course in a time of nine-hours and 11-minutes.

The top female kayaker was Donna Kouwe who finished in a time of 10:29.

The top tandem canoeists were Rob Nichols/Bryce Nichols, who finished in a time of 10:32.

The competitors celebrated their accomplishments with a party and award ceremony at the boat ramp under the Business 71-bridge Organizers of the race are considering expanding the race next year to go from Bastrop to Columbus, which would make the race a 100mile journey along the river instead of 100 kilometers.
