Weimar Dominates Schulenburg 48-7, Keeping Shorthorns Winless
Weimar beat Schulenburg 48-7 Friday in this battle of historic Interstate-10 rivals.
Weimar (3-1) came into the game as a big favorite against winless Schulenburg, but Nick Goode recovered a fumble in the endzone for the Shorthorns for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7 late in the first quarter. From there, however, it was all Weimar as the Wildcats scored 41 unanswered points the rest of the way.
Weimar amassed 375 yards of total offense led by a 122-yard three-touchdown rushing night from Ace Mesa. Schulenburg managed just 115 total yards, including 46 rushing yards from Tim Lara and 50 passing from quarterback Owen Brenek.
The Shorthorns (0-4) host Johnson City (2-2) this Friday at 7 p.m. in their final non-district game.
