Cierra McCain’s first few weeks as La Grange volleyball coach have been eased by having six standout seniors on this year’s team. Those seniors are Avery Griffin, Mriyah Holmes, Haedyn Cooper, Campbell Cooper, Hannah Gross and Jace Baptiste.

The La Grange volleyball team defeated Weimar in five sets Tuesday in the season opener for both teams. Weimar won the first and fourth sets 25-13 and 25-22, while La Grange won the second and third sets 25-13, 25-20, before the Lady Leps grabbed the fifth and final set 15-12.

The La Grange football team will get its first chance to hit someone else this Friday as the team goes to El Campo for a scrimmage. The Leps will then host Franklin Thursday Aug.

Tuesday marks the start of a new volleyball season for La Grange as the Lady Leps host Weimar in the season opener for both teams at 5:30 p.m. The La Grange volleyball girls have their third different coach in as many years.
