Shelter Has Increase In Animal Care

As of May 12, total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 564: 300 dogs and 264 cats in need. That’s an increase of 113 dogs and cats over this same time frame in 2022. As of May 12, the shelter has 138 animals in care: 62 dogs/76 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.

Art In the Park Held in Schulenburg

The Schulenburg/Weimar Area Parents as Teachers (PAT) held their annual Art in the Park event on Saturday, May 6. This Fiesta-themed event was held at Wolters Park in Schulenburg and in conjunction with Turtle Wing Foundation’s Jack Hooper Day at the Park.

EMS Week Proclaimed in Fayette Co.

Fayette County Commissioners Court signed a proclamation designating the week of May 21-27 as Emergency Medical Services Week in Fayette County. The proclamation recognized the outstanding life-saving work provided by Fayette County’s EMS department. The Navidad Valley local works to support local youth with scholarships and provide quality information on the industry and how to incorporate beef into a healthy diet.

Tamara Otto Named Catholic Life All American Scholar

Tamara Otto of Schulenburg, received the Catholic Life Insurance All American Scholar Award. Otto, who is the daughter of Stacy and Keith Otto, is a senior at Schulenburg High School. She will attend Texas A&M University this fall. A total of 35 seniors received the $1,000 All American scholarship from Catholic Life.
