Every year, Turtle Wing Foundation awards scholarships to high school seniors (from Fayette, Lavaca, and Colorado counties) pursuing college and/or a trade school. The three scholarship categories are: Jack Hooper Memorial Scholarship: awarded to a student who has exhibited the qualities of acceptance, kindness, inclusion, and service. This might be through volunteerism, work, or life experiences.

West Texas A&M University students both from on stage and behind the scenes recently were honored at a year-end ceremony for WT Theatre. The group included one student from Fayette County.

Indeed, all of La Grange and Fayette County—if not the whole of Texas—was invited to the Bluff for gatherings of the local German-Texan marksmanship and social club. Real estate development continues to grow at a fast pace in rural Fayette County. Fayette County inspector Clint Sternadel reported to the Commissioners Court last week that 33 new tracts of land were created in April, which he described as an “average” month.

Navidad Valley Cattle-Women recently awarded $12,000 to eleven area youth whose futures will impact the beef industry in a big way. Their applications reflected how bright the students were, shared civic and church involvement, along with their work ethic and big plans for the future.
