4-H Horse Project
Storytime is back at the Fayette Public Library. Join every Wednesday starting Sept. 6 at 10:15 a.m. for great stories, fun themes, songs, and a craft. Stay afterward for Preschool Playtime from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. These programs are free and open to the public. The Fayette 4-H Horse Project will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse arena.
Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at St. John in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. It is walk up distribution with volunteers to help. Bring bags and containers to pick up your food.
Chamber Dinner
The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their 3rd annual chicken fried chicken dinner on Thursday, Sept. 14. The meal is drive thru only at the Knights of Columbus Hall located at 190 S. Brown in La Grange from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Meal is $12 per plate.
For the Record on Page A2 & A6 Applications are now being accepted for the Round Top Festival Institute Volunteer and Docent Program beginning Wednesday, Sept. 13, on the historic Festival Hill campus in Round Top. Participation is required in a five unit course that teaches the history of the Round Top Festival Institute and significant features of the magnificent Festival Concert Hall and campus buildings. This class is geared to be fun, friendly and a great way to meet new and interesting people in your community. Led by Library and Museum Collections Curator Lamar Lentz docent training classes are held every two weeks on Wednesday at 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. with lunch provided. American Legion, Auxiliary No. 102
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The joint session will include the POW/MIA Ceremony followed by the speaker, Fayette County Judge, Dan Mueller. The District Post Commander, Terry Landrum, will be attending to present a program for the Legion. Members are encouraged to attend the program and meeting. New potential members are invited to attend. A meal will be served prior to the meeting following the ceremony and the speaker.
Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at Junction FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Saturday, Sep. 16, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags, boxes, or plastic tubs. Wagons will be furnished by the CTFB.
Texas Heroes Day
The Texas Heroes Museum will host a special presentation for Texas Heroes Day. The program will start at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16 and repeat on Sunday. Sept. 17. Admission is free. The museum opens at 10 a.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. Fridays and Sundays.
St. Wenceslaus Meal Online Auction St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holman will hold their annual drive-thru meal and online auction on Sunday, Sept. 17. The church is located on FM 155 between Weimar and La Grange. The meal will include fried chicken, sausage, buttered potatoes, sauerkraut, green beans, pickle and dessert. The cost per plate is $12. Drive-thru line begins at 10:30 a.m. Visit www. charityauction.bid/HolmanPicnic for the online auction. Bidding opens Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. and runs through Monday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m.
Hermann Sons Life Plum
The Hermann Sons Life Plum September meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. Meal and dessert will be provided.
VFW Post No. 5254 & Auxiliary
A light meal, meetings, and a program will be held by La Grange Fayette Memorial VFW Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the VFW Home in La Grange. Meeting time for the VFW Auxiliary is 5 p.m., then a joint POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony and a meal will be held at 6 p.m., followed by the VFW Post meeting.
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Dinner Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau potluck dinner and 2023 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The guest speakers will be Dr. Wess Blackwell, MD and Dawn Blackwell, from La Grange and Flatonia Family Health Center. A business meeting will follow the meal. Members are asked to bring a dish.
Parkinson’s Support Group
The September meeting of the Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 East Pearl St. in La Grange. Meetings begin at 10 a.m. and are over by 11 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Discussions range from topics relevant to patients and include those important caregivers. Vietnam Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Al-Anon meetings are held every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at United Methodist Church located at 1201 Main St. in Bastrop. Grief Group
Hospice Brazos Valley is offering anAnticipatory Grief group. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange.
