The Rural Non-Profit Networking Group invites all nonprofit organizations interested in exploring and cultivating community partnerships to join them at their next gathering on Wednesday, Nov. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Round Top Family Library located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top.

On Saturday, Nov. 13, pull up to the old firestation in the square for St. Paul Lutheran’s 41st Annual Turkey Stew and Bake Sale. Serving to-go begins at 10:30 a.m. Quart size to-go cups are available. Or, bring a sturdy (non-plastic) container that can handle piping-hot stew for a big crowd. Also enjoy a quilt raffle. Proceeds from the event are allocated to cover costs for painting the inside of the church.

NVCC Senior Center had a great week and is looking forward to another one. October has come and gone, bringing in November.

The Fayette County Coyote Control Program starts as you hit the deer stand Nov. 7. The contest is being held to give landowners, producers, and sportsmen an opportunity to assist in the control of coyotes in Fayette County. Coyotes cause predation on livestock and result in economic losses to agricultural producers in the county.

The Sacred Heart Altar Society members met on Monday, Oct. 4, in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewicz Parish Center. Eleven members were in attendance. After the standard officer reports, President Karen Janda read a Prayer for Life for member meditation and reported on dates to remember for the month of October.

CDA No. 1962 La Grange placed a white ribbon and a WRAP banner around a large tree on the courthouse lawn to raise awareness to the dangers of pornography in today’s society. It is well documented that sex trafficking, including child sex trafficking, has increased over the years. It is their hope to raise awareness to this horrific problem and make people more vigilant in their everyday lives.

A staple in the community since the late 1990s, Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill’s Trail of Lights is La Grange’s very own Christmas extravaganza. Throughout the years, the event has grown from an early German Christmas themed program to a 10-night festival complete with children’s activities and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. But with progress comes the need for upgrades to more efficient lighting, expansion of the trail, and new holiday programs.

Cole Neumann of Round Top is a new junior member of the American Angus Association, reports Mark McCully, CEO of the national organization with headquarters in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Junior members of the Association are eligible to register cattle in the American Angus Association, participate in programs conducted by the National Junior Angus Association and take part in Association-sponsored shows and other national and regional events.
