Mayer Cemetery

The Mayer Cemetery Association will have their annual meeting on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Lenora Voelkel near Shelby. Mowing of cemetery, election of officers, and animal issues are some items on the agenda. If you have questions or other items to discuss, please attend the meeting. All are welcome. If you can’t make the meeting and have relatives or friends at the cemetery or just want to help, please consider making a contribution. Funds for mowing and upkeep have been depleted. The association treasurer is Monty Mayer, P.O. Box 232, Carmine, TX 78932.

Hermann Sons

Plum Hermann Sons Life will meet for their monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 8 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. The lodge will provide the meal and dessert.

Retired Teachers

The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association will meet on Nov. 8 at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 1215 Von Minden in La Grange. The speaker will be Admiral John W. Koenig, and there will be a silent auction to benefit the TRS Foundation. Fellowship time is at 1:30 p.m. with the meeting and auction to begin at 2 p.m. While the association name implies only teachers, all personnel are invited, whether they are from another city, county, or state. KC & CDA Memorial Service, Mass

The annual Memorial Service and Mass for the Knights of Columbus Chromcik Council No. 2574, Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 and Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn. Recitation of the Rosary begins at 6:30 p.m. Memorial Service and Mass at 7 p.m. followed by a supper at the hall.

Veterans Day Holiday Schedule

City of La Grange offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage schedule.

Veteran’s Day Event In Fayetteville

Celebrate Veterans on Thursday, Nov. 11 in honor of all who served. All Veterans are invited to meet at the town square at 8 a.m. Veterans will go from the town square to the school for the parade.

Veteran’s Day Posters

The Round Top-Carmine ISD students will have Veteran’s Day posters displayed on the grounds of the Round Top Courthouse on Thursday, Nov. 11.This event is sponsored by the community classroom committee of Smith-McMillan Daughters of the American Revolution. This is open to the public and we would love to have everyone come.

Veterans Breakfast

American Legion Post No. 602in Shelby invites all Veterans and the public to their annual drive-thru Veterans breakfast on Satuday, Nov. 13 beginning at 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. for a free will donation. Menu icnludes bacon, eggs, biscuit and gravy. The Shelby Post Headquarters is located at 4019 FM 1457.

Nassau Cemetery Assoc. Meeting

Nassau Cemetery Association will hold a meeting on Sunday Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Educational Building in Round Top. Turkey & Dressing Meal In Carmine

The Martin Luther Lutheran Church Carmine Women of the ELCA is having a turkey and dressing meal on Sunday, Nov. 14 starting at 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the MLLC Mission Ministry Building. Thanksgiving Barbecue Turkeys

La Grange Knights of Columbus Council No. 2574 will be taking pre-orders for barbecue turkeys for Thanksgiving. The turkeys are 14-16 lbs. and cost $50. If possible, please reserve your order before Nov. 16 by calling (979) 968-5117. Pick up is Wednesday, Nov. 24 between 4 to 6 p.m.
