Navidad Valley Center Hears From Dairy Farmers of America
NVCC Senior Center had a great week and is looking forward to another one.
October has come and gone, bringing in November. The Thanksgiving dinner is coming up. It is heartwarming to see people volunteer to be of service to make an event a success. They will be in their kitchens whipping up some good dishes, desserts, and breads. When you read some of the gratitude wishes on the Gratitude Pumpkin, you will understand. This was a great way to express feelings of members who are writing on it, because they have something to share that they are happy about and grateful for.
NVCC had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know Kevin Raabe, the plant manager at the Dairy Farmer’s of America in Schulenburg and was amazed to know what goes on there. It is a historic plant, going all the way back to 1929, and evolving along the way. They are now a fully auto
They are now a fully automated plant. Frito-Lay has proprietary rights to the products they produce, which are Frito-Lay dips and salsas. Members thought it was all about milk. Kevin said if you look at the code on the lid and it ends in 20, then it was made in Schulenburg. He was a very interesting young man with a lot of energy and a passion for his work.
Members want him to come back another day and give an update on what else they do because they know he could have gone on with more information. Members liked that the company values their workforce, they work four days a week and always have Sunday off because family is important to them. They are actively hiring and it sure sounded like a good place to work.
Molly Davila, from Wells-Fargo Bank, has joined the ranks of bingo callers as a corporate sponsor. She was enthusiastic and the members really liked the energy she brought to the center. Molly will call Bingo once a month at the center and we welcome her warmly.
NVCC is excited about setting up the table for the Fall Craft Sale on Nov. 14 at the KC Hall in Schulenburg. At the Senior Center, members are signing up to bring home baked goods and for two hour shifts to man the table with us. People generally volunteer to help out, but no one needs to stay for the full day. This way, we have spread it out so everyone has a chance to help out and be of service, in a manner that suits them.
