Non-Profit Networking Group To Meet
The Rural Non-Profit Networking Group invites all nonprofit organizations interested in exploring and cultivating community partnerships to join them at their next gathering on Wednesday, Nov. 10, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Round Top Family Library located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top.
The meeting will be in the Annex which is the house behind the library. Attendees can park in the parking lot by the Rummel Haus or by the library and take the walk way back to the Annex.
Round Top Family Library Executive Director, Barbara Smith, will give an overview of their mission and work in the community. Director and immediate past-president, Vicki LaRue, will share on their strategic planning process and practical benefits to the Library. Attendees will get a chance to network and workshop questions they may have on strategic planning.
The Round Top Family Library was established in 1999 in the Rummel Haus in Round Top, to serve the community of Round Top and the surrounding communities as primarily a children’s library. Its operations and campus have grown with the community over the years. Its current mission is “to provide free and unrestricted access to traditional library services, innovative educational programs, and a welcoming community center for people of all ages”.
The organization is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and, as such, is rather unique in the State of Texas in that it must raise funds from the public to support its operations rather than being funded by a governmental entity, as are most libraries in the State. Thus, the Library operates very much like a traditional nonprofit organization to accomplish its mission, raising its funds from the public and depending heavily on volunteerism.
The Rural Non-Profit Networking Group (RNNG) is an opportunity for the organizations that do so much good in our rural communities to share their missions and visions, discuss community needs and partnership opportunities, bring in experts to facilitate growth and professionalism, and simply connect to maximize the efficiency and impact that participants can bring to Fayette, Colorado, Lavaca and surrounding counties.
