Speed Family Reunion June 11

Calling all decedents of Bob, Frank and Tom Speed families: it is that time of year again for the 73rd annual Speed family reunion. The Speed family has been in Muldoon for generations and this is a chance to connect or reconnect with family members. Come join up with the cousins on Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Muldoon Mercantile for some fun and visiting.

Winchester to Host CCA Casino Night

The 17th Annual Casino Nite for Combined Community Action, Inc. will be held June 10 at St. Michael’s Park Pavilion at 310 Frio St. in Winchester. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Gaming will start at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50 and will include dinner, drinks, and 10,000 gaming tokens. The top prize will be $1,000 Southwest Airlines Gift Card. Prizes and a silent auction will also be available. The night is BYOB. You can obtain tickets online at www.ccaction.com.

Members of the Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association met on Monday, May 9, at the Fellowship Hall of the First United Methodist Church in La Grange. Refreshments were provided by Nancy Pietsch.

First LG Movie Night of 2022 is Friday

Join La Grange Main Street for Movie Night on the Square on Friday, June 3, for the showing of “Encanto.” Make sure to get there early to enjoy live music by Michael Mach. In addition to the live music, there will be kids’ crafts and activities, popcorn, drinks, and tons of fun. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. on the Fayette County Courthouse Lawn so be sure to bring lawn chairs and blankets. LMS 8th Graders Take on Community Projects

La Grange Middle School held an event Wednesday morning, May 25, featuring the eighth grade’s “Words to Action” projects. Starting at mid-year, each homeroom class in the eight grade took on a community service project.
Mrs. Rebecca Stewart’s class chose “Love Literacy” as their Words to Action project. The class picked out their favorite books from childhood and read them to kindergarten and first grade students at La Grange Elementary.

St. Rose Takes Trip to Blue Bell

The St. Rose Kindergarten Class took a trip to Blue Bell on May 10. They loved learning about the history behind it all. Then they got to see where and how their favorite ice cream was made. The best part was getting to eat any flavor they wanted. LG Roadrunners Attend Lee County Fair

A group of the La Grange Roadrunners Square Dance Club were able to make a road trip to entertain folks into the joy of square dancing. The group has not been able to do any of this since 2019 when COVID-19 shut almost everything down.
