Record Wins Pair of State Journalism Titles
The Fayette County Record earned two state titles, as part of 10 overall awards at the state level, as awards were announced Saturday in San Marcos at the Texas Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest.
Competing in the Large Semi-Weekly Category, The Record won first place in Feature Writing and Sports Photography and was tied for third in the Sweepstakes category with the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel, behind second place Uvalde Leader-News and first place Hood County News of Granbury. Judging was done by members of The West Virginia Press Association, and was for work done during 2021.
Of the 80 newspapers competing, The Record was one of only five that placed in at least 10 categories (the others were The Galveston Daily News, The Victoria Advocate, The Hill County News of Leander, and The Longview News Journal.)
