Deputies Arrest Subject For Theft, Fake Driver’s Licenses
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Thursday, July 28 at approximately 8:36 a.m. Deputy Michael Krenek was dispatched to a call regarding a theft of property from the Hruska’s gas station.
Dispatch was able to get a vehicle and suspect description and the vehicle was spotted by a Deputy in an unmarked vehicle near La Grange. The vehicle was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed such that the unmarked vehicle was unable to gain on it. Information was relayed to Smithville PD and they were able to get ahead of the vehicle and initiate a traffic stop on it.
Fayette County Deputies made the scene with Smithville PD and observed the vehicle and license plate to match as well as the subject matching the description given. Deputies also observed a sizeable amount of clothing matching the description of the stolen property and with tags still attached inside the vehicle. The subject was taken into custody and the vehicle and property were collected. After further investigation the subject was also found to be in possession of two fake Texas Driver’s Licenses.
Arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice center was, Zachary Greene, 30, of Bastrop, for the offenses of theft with previous convictions, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, and reckless driving.
