Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on July 1 around 4:08 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a hay Baler on fire on FM 155 near Mullins Prairie. The LaGrange Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Deputy Wesley Arrison. Upon arrival the New Holland 688 hay baler had heavy fire damage. The fire was quickly contained and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is believed to be from bearings that overheated.

Ellinger Chamber to Host “Christmas in July” Bingo

Residents and visitors alike are invited to celebrate a little holiday cheer in the middle of summer as the Ellinger C of C Hall hosts its Christmas in July Special Bingo event on Sunday, July 12. The festive event promises an afternoon of bingo, food, and community fun, with more than $5,000 in prize payouts available throughout the day.

Dinner and Dancing Under the Stars Set for July 18

The annual Dinner and Dancing under the Stars event will be held on Saturday, July 18 at the Rutersville Hermann Sons Lodge. Dinner begins at 5 p.m. for a free will fried chicken and sausage meal. Dine in is preferred. At 6 p.m., music will be by The Back Porch Boys. There will also be a live and silent auction. Bring your own beverages and lawn chairs. All proceeds benefit Lutherhill and this event is hosted by SLM and St. Paul Lutheran in La Grange.

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of June 28-July 4. Animal Complaint On June 30, Animal Control Code Enforcement Officer Gina Harden transported a found kitten in the 400 block of Kessler with a yucky eye to the animal shelter.

Imposter Alert Issued Regarding Local ‘Nurse’

The Texas Board of Nursing says it will issue an “imposter alert” and refer criminal charges against a woman with a business in Flatonia who offered to sell botox injections without a license. The Record obtained details about the case through a public information request with the Flatonia Police Department.
