Shelter Has 73 Animals In Care

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is open 10 a.m .- 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. The shelter is closed to the public with staff onsite for animal care from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Reclaims are allowed on Monday after 10 a.m. by appointment.

Firefighters Battle Interstate Blaze

The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire in a HEB trailer on Interstate 10 west bound just west of the 694 entrance ramp Thursday. The driver was able to drop the trailer before the rig was damaged.

Some Tensions Boil Over at Meeting About LGISD Bond

Taxpayers for Responsible Schools, the political action committee opposed to the proposed $90 million bond for La Grange ISD, held a public meeting last Thursday at the Fayette County Ag Building. About 40 people were in attendance, and many more watched a livestream of the meeting on the Fayette County Record’s Facebook Page.

Diocese Shuffling Some Area Priests

Bishop Brendan Cahill of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Victoria announced new priestly assignments, and a couple of those involve St. Rose of Lima Parish in Schulenburg and its mission churches. The new assignments are effective July 1.
