Downtown La Grange Plan Gets a Lukewarm Welcome
The La Grange City Council held a lengthy discussion Monday night over the City’s application for a Downtown Revitalization Grant through the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). TDA has set aside $1 million for the downtown La Grange project, which is aimed at reducing “slum and blight” conditions that the Council has identified around the Courthouse Square. The project unveiled Monday night calls for a reduction in parking spaces around the Square to make way for fire lanes that meet modern fire code.
Pitbull Pandemonium
I don’t even remember why I opened my front door that night, but I looked out and saw two pitbulls running up the sidewalk towards me and a police officer in my driveway with a gun pointed at them. I immediately retreated inside and soon thereafter heard gunshots. After a while, the officer knocked on my door to apologize and said that there were two pitbulls he had to put down. The next morning, I went outside and there was blood on my driveway which was horrifying and so sad to me. I don’t remember those pitbulls looking vicious when they were galloping up the sidewalk towards me so that made it especially upsetting, although there had been others previously roaming the neighborhood that were not terribly friendly and scaring neighborhood kids. Someone had reported these two loose pitbulls and that’s why the officer showed up.
The New Small-Town Toolbox
I want to build a small patio beside my house. The problem is that the space isn’t square or rectangular, it’s shaped like a distorted trapezoid. After watching a YouTube video, I had a general idea of what I wanted, but I still needed to figure out exactly how much material to buy, which tools I’d need, and whether there was a less expensive way to build it. That’s when artificial intelligence became surprisingly practical.
