Schulenburg Police Respond to Burglary, Fire, Fight
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 23-29.
Accident
On Aug. 26, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Kessler in reference to a minor accident between two 18 wheelers. Both drivers exchanged information. Burglary
On Aug. 27, Officer James Whited was dispatched to the 1100 block of Summit for a possible burglary.
Civil Matter
On Aug. 26, Whited was dispatched to the 1500 block of Kellett for a civil matter.
Fire
On Aug. 28, Officer Reyden Svatek was dispatched to the 2000 block of Hwy. 90 for a brush fire. Upon arrival it appeared TxDOT put tree limbs on an old burn pile and due to the heat, it ignited. Schulenburg fire department arrived and put it out.
Fight in Progress
On Aug. 27, Officer Byron Powe assisted with breaking up a fight at the Schulenburg High School.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle On Aug. 27, Castilleja was informed of a suspicious person at the sports complex. Upon arrival officer located the individual and the vehicle was identified as well as subject. The subject had several municipal warrants out of Cisco for traffic violations. Individual advised they had just moved to Schulenburg and the vehicle was his brothers.
Traffic Hazard
On Aug. 24, Svatek was advised of a truck hauling a mobile home that was broke down on a lane of traffic in the 600 block of E. I-10. Officer stayed on the scene for traffic control until roadway cleared.
On Aug. 28, Powe responded to the report of an 18-wheeler broken down in the 700 block of N. Kessler. Towing company notified.
Traffic Stop
On Aug. 24, Officer MD Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver issued a citation.
On Aug. 25, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding and no insurance. Subject has a warrant for his arrest, but jail was not accepting.
On Aug. 25, Powe stopped a driver in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 91 in a 75. Driver received a citation.
On Aug. 26, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for speeding.
On Aug. 27, Castilleja stopped a driver for speeding in the 700 block of Kessler. The driver received a citation.
On Aug. 27, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. A warning was issued.
On Aug. 27, Castilleja stopped a driver for speeding in the 100 block of Kessler. The driver received a warning.
Aug 27, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Schultz for disregarding a stop sign. Driver received a citation.
On Aug. 29, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of E. I-10 for speeding going 92 in a 75. The driver received a warning.
Welfare Check
On Aug. 26, Powe responded to the 1000 block of Anderson for a welfare check.
On Aug. 27, Whited responded to the 1100 block of Summit for a welfare check.
Warrant Service
On Aug. 26, Whited was dispatched to the 400 block of Black Street regarding a female subject refusing to leave. Officer arrived on scene and individual had an active warrant for burglary of a habitation. The individual was arrested and taken to the Fayette County jail.
