Many locals were surprised about the size of crowds last weekend at the Fall Antiques Show in northern Fayette County, with some wondering whether the influx of people might lead to a spike in coronavirus cases.

Sacred Heart Has First Case Two-and-a-half months since the return to school, Sacred Heart School in La Grange has its first confirmed case of COVID-19 in a student Tuesday. Principal LaDonna Voekel said she feels “very blessed” that the school was able to go as long as they did without having a case.

St. James Episcopal Preschool hosted a Truck Touch Wednesday as an introduction to their “Community Helpers” unit. Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, EMS, La Grange Police and Fire Department let students touch, see, and hear what their trucks and equipment do and how they keep us safe. The event was held at First Presbyterian Church, which is where the preschool is operating while construction is being completed at St. James for a new education building with more classroom space. An alert reader brought by our office a letter she recently received in the mail from the American Dreams House Million Sweepstakes, saying she had won thousands of dollars in a contest she had not entered. The letter appeared to be a scam and the reader wanted to warn others that might have received similar letters.

The Winchester Area Civic Association is sponsoring a Trunk-n-Treat from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, for the children of the Winchester area. Cars will be parked in the driveway of Zilss Hall, and children may walk or be driven through the drive so they can Trick or Treat.
