Carmine 42 Club Meets at JW’s Steakhouse
The Carmine 42 Club met on Oct. 7 at JW’s Steakhouse for a delicious lunch and fun dominoes.
The high scoring partners were LaVerne Albers and Marlene Waak, playing one hand of 126. The second highest scoring partners were Donna Mueller and Edith Flinn, and they played two hands of 84 and one hand of 126. The third highest scoring partners were Linda Mattocks and Carol Naegeli, playing a hand of 84. Also playing were partners Jeanette Schoenst and Jo Nell Glaesmann.
Everyone enjoyed the social time and the laughter.
RT-C School News
The Round Top-Carmine High School varsity volleyball team defeated Somerville in three sets on Oct. 6. Both the JV and Jr. High teams won in two sets.
On Oct. 9, varsity beat Dime Box in three sets.
School picture retakes will be on Oct. 21.
Carmine VFD
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 22.

Christmas Fest
Since the Carmine Chamber of Commerce canceled their Casino Night due to COVID-19, they are focusing on the Christmas Fest on December 6. (Casino Night is usually their most successful event of the year.) So, in addition to craft booths and a meal, they will hold a drawing. The cost per ticket will be $10, with 10 great prizes. The tickets will be available at Carmine Night Out.
Rebekah Group
The Rebekah Group of Martin Luther Lutheran Church met on Oct. 8, with 10 members and Pastor David Tinker present. The members attending were Sedalia Ullrich, Joys Baird, Barbara Jacob, Dianna Gerland, Cheryl Etzel, Diana Wunderlich, Carol Carmean, Jocie Jacob-Braun, Susan Ray and Nancy Eilers.
The birthday celebrant for October was Nancy Eilers.
Pastor Tinker led the Bible study, “Holy Time: Session 2 Recognizing the How.”
President, Susan Ray, called the meeting to order.
The Purpose and Mission Statements were recited.
The minutes of the September meeting were approved.
The treasurer, Dianna Gerland, mentioned to the group that they should think about where to send the Christmas gifts this year, so the decision can be made at the November meeting.
Diana Wunderlich and Carol Carmean reported for Mission Action that we collected for AMEN last month and that the food had been taken there. There were 77 quilts packed on Sept. 16 for Lutheran World Relief. (In addition, four Baby Care kits and six fleece blankets were packed. Leonita Sanders assembled and packed 29 school kits and Nancy assembled and packed 10 fabric kits.)
Sedalia Ullrich, with Mission Community, will be getting the tins of cookies and ordering the poinsettias for nursing home residents.
Joys Baird reported for Mission Growth that the Thankoffering service is on Nov. 8 and asked for volunteers to participate in the program. The table will be decorated on Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. It is planned to have the Yearbooks available by the end of November.
Personal care kits for Lutheran World Relief are being collected during October.
Discussion was held on officers for next year.
The shipping date for the Lutheran World Relief gathering has been set for Saturday, Nov. 7, at Zionsville.
The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the singing of the table prayer.
Hostesses were Carol Carmean and Jocie Jacob-Braun.
MLLC News
Saturday worship service with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion is at 10 a.m. Reformation Sunday will be observed, along with confirmation. Confirmands will be Jace Carmean, Kennedy Flinn, Kalli Pohl and Abby Wunderlich. The service will also be on mllccarmine.com. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
AA meets on Sunday at 5 p.m.
Men in Mission meet on Monday at 6 p.m. It is family night.
Visitors’ Center
The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The Recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Items accepted are dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated. Attendants are available to help unload.
They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items until they are open.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30 to 11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
