Harvest Market Opens
ARTS’ Harvest Market opens its doors on Oct. 24 and offers holiday shoppers a wide array of artworks, hand-crafted treasures, and other unique collectables and gifts. With everything from original paintings and sculptures, to seasonal décor, to jewelry and pottery, to tasty treats, to even sports memorabilia, the Market has something for everyone. The Harvest Market is a part of Arts for Rural Texas’ annual fundraiser, Harvestfest, and is perfect for holiday shopping. The funds raised go to support the non-profit organization’s programs that provide free art education and cultural experiences for thousands of children in south central Texas. The Harvest Market will be open Oct. 24 through Dec. 5, every Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Shop early before these one-of-a-kind items are gone.
In conjunction with the Harvest Market, Arts for Rural Texas is proud to feature an exhibit of paintings by Katie Kondritz. She is a high school student whose love for art was first sparked by her experiences at ARTS’ Summer Art Camp, which she attended for 6 years. Since that time, Katie has mostly been self-taught and has developed a strong skill and wonderful works of art. She is inspired and encouraged by her family, friends, and the world around her, and her work reflects her sensitive vision and strong talent.
After attending ARTS’ Summer Art Camp, Katie served as a helper for younger students for a year. She has participated in ARTS’ Emerging Artists Contest for four years, winning an award for her grade level each of those years. Katie has also served as a volunteer each fall at ARTS’ Harvestfest Dinner and Auction. The cover art for this year’s Harvestfest invitation featured the original watercolor painting she created for the organization.
Katie says her passion for art comes from the way it tells a story, captures memories, and highlights small moments. She enjoys drawing and painting subjects that hold a special meaning to her. Katie’s goal is to continue to learn and grow in her craft, and to eventually start a business or become a teacher.
ARTS invites all to attend these two exhibitions. By the Governor’s mandate masks are to be worn when entering the building. Both exhibits are free to the public and promise delightful finds.
