The Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives in La Grange is excited to announce its new partnership with the William J. Hill Artisans and Artists Archive. This virtual archive, created by the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, documents the lives, work, and products of Texas artisans and artists through 1900.

LG City Moving Forward With Plan to Close Beefhead Ditch

In other business at Monday’s meeting, Council authorized City Manager Shawn Raborn to begin seeking engineering services for a project to close in Beefhead Ditch. The ditch will be replaced with underground culverts. Raborn said the first phase of the project would involve covering the section of ditch alongside H-E-B. Raborn said the grocery store is planning a remodel.

As of Monday morning, Fayette County officials were reporting 11 active plus 21 probable cases of COVID-19 here. Last Monday there were 15 active cases here plus 16 probable.

DSW Homes has completed ten new homes in its Falcon View subdivision in Schulenburg and plans to complete the remaining 25 by the end of the year, according to DSW executive Beau Yarbrough. “We should be out of there by the end of the year,” Yarbrough said.

State Grants Fayette County Permission to Lift Mask Order, Co. Judge Holding Off for Now

Don't take off your face masks just yet.

Fayette County Judge Joe Weber announced this afternoon, Friday, Oct. 16, that the Texas Department of Emergency Management has granted Fayette County an exemption to Governor Greg Abbott's statewide face covering mandate. The exemption allows Weber to lift the mask order, but he has not yet done so.

Weber said he intends to lift the mandate if the number of active coronavirus cases stays "manageable" in Fayette County.
