State-required vision and hearing screenings were recently performed at St. Rose Catholic School in Schulenburg by several local Lions Clubs from the La Grange area. A total of 45 students were screened for vision and 77 students for hearing. Burleson County Tribune James Jantzen, 33 of Caldwell, is behind bars after he allegedly moved into a couple’s home and used their vehicle while the pair was on their honeymoon. Jessica Garza says she and her husband were on their honeymoon when a family member called and told her someone was living in their home and using their truck.

The family was fortunate to acquire our late Grandma’s cinnamon roll recipe. In our opinion, Grandma Adelia Giese’s cinnamon rolls were the best, huge, gooey, filling and melted in your mouth.

The regular monthly meeting of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annunciation No. 1962 was called to order by Regent Shirley Antosh on Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Community Center. Silent roll call of officers found a quorum present with all officers and 11 members in attendance.

The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center’s Heritage Festival & Muziky was held on Saturday, Oct. 17. H-E-B has been a sponsor of this event for many years. The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center hosted its annual Hertiage Fest on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Carmine’s city park, Muehlbrad-Albers City Park, has newly undergone some major changes and improvements continue to be made. President of Carmine State Bank Chris Coufal recently presented a $2,500 check to the Carmine Economic Development Corporation (EDC) as a donation towards a new basketball court to be installed near the park in early November with the flex court covering in the Round-Top Carmine school colors.
