Reunion Cancelled
The 70th Pavlas Family Reunion has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We regret that this unfortunate decision was necessary to ensure everyone’s safety. We look forward to seeing everyone next year when we will celebrate our 71st reunion scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021. KC BBQ Sunday
The La Grange Knights of Columbus will host their monthly BBQ chicken and sausage togo on Sunday, Oct. 25. Drive through from 10:30 to 12 noon at the La Grange KC Hall. A slab of pork ribs is $18, chicken is $9 and sausage is $6. Orders are guaranteed on call-ins. Call (979) 968-5117.
CDA Meeting
CDA Court Annunciation #1962 of La Grange & Plum will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 26 at the Narthex Meeting Room at Sacred Heart Church in La Grange at 7 p.m. Kathy Cernoch will be showcasing jewelry available for the Texas CDA Park Lane Fundraiser. Members are encouraged to attend and potential new members are always welcome.
Care Inn of La Grange Pumpkin Contest
Bring your decorated or carved pumpkins and line our sidewalks. Place your name and number on the bottom of your pumpkin for judging purposes. The winners of the contest will be contacted for prizes, for the best pumpkins. Pumpkins will be judged at the 3 p.m. on Oct. 27. You can drop your pumpkin off any time before then. Halloween Trunk or Treat
The First Baptist Church in La Grange will hold a drive-thru Trunk or Treat Saturday, Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. First Baptist Church is located at 5000 W. State Hwy. 71 in La Grange.
Fayetteville Harvest Carnival
The Fayetteville PTC Harvest Carnival is cancelled this year, but a raffle and drive thru chili and beef stew meal will take place. Raffle tickets are $10. You can purchase them from FISD students. The drive thru chili and beef stew meal will be held on Friday, Oct. 30 at the St. John’s Catholic Church Hall in Fayetteville from 4:30 to 7 p.m. No presale tickets. Chili and beef stew will be sold in quart containers for $10 each.
Kindergarten Gifted And Talented
La Grange ISD is taking kindergarten nominations for the Gifted and Talented program for the 2020-2021 school year. The Talent Pool/LEAP programs are designed to provide additional challenges and stimulation for academically talented students. Parents, teachers, and community members may nominate students currently enrolled in LGISD in kindergarten to participate in the screening process to determine eligibility for the gifted program. Nomination forms are available in the LGISD Elementary campus office or on the La Grange ISD website under “Gifted and Talented”. All nominations are due by Nov. 6. Christmas Bazaar Cancelled
Freyburg United Methodist Church’s Country Christmas Bazaar that was scheduled for Nov. 14 is cancelled.
Jewelry Fundraiser
Catholic Daughters of the Americas Texas State Court is sponsoring a Park Lane Jewelry Fundraiser. 50% of all sales will be returned to the Texas State Court benefiting state projects. Show Fund Pork Steak Dinner
The Fayetteville Show Fund is having a to go only meal on Sunday, Nov. 22 from 11 a.m until 12:30 p.m. at the St. John’s Catholic Church Pavilion in Fayetteville. The meal consists of barbecue pork steak, buttered potatoes and green beans. Pre-sale tickets are $10 per plate and available through Monday, Nov. 16. LG Chamber Lunch & Learn
The La Grange Chamber of Commerce will host a lunch and learn on Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 12 noon until 1 p.m. at the Texas Czech Heritage Center located at 250 W. Fairgrounds Road in La Grange. Representative Ben Leman will be the guest speaker.

Surviving The Holidays
Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings is sponsoring a twohour special seminar entitled “Surviving the Holidays” for anyone facing the holidays after the death of a loved one Sunday, Nov. 15 3-5 p.m. The session is nondenominational and Christ-Centered. Video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and other people who have experienced the death of a loved one give practical suggestions and encouragement.
