Willie Lee Scott, 96, of La Grange, passed away Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021.

Sylvia Sue Strickland Romberg departed this earth peacefully on Sept. 14, 2021.

Mark James Gerik, 51, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021.

Carol Goodson Montgomery, 77, of Brenham, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Raymond (Cotton) Goodson; her mother, Mary Lee Allcorn Goodson; infant sister, Kathryn Dale Goodson, and brother, Billy Joe Goodson.

Tom Hudson was born into a loving home in Lyons, Kansas to Herman and Shirley Hudson on Sept. 20, 1960. After school Tom became a much in demand finish carpenter. He married Robin Hall who was the love of his life on Jan. 29, 1983. In 1991, Tom and Robin moved to Bastrop and opened their first Subway. In 2005 they moved to a farm in Smithville. They currently own Subway stores in Giddings, La Grange and Smithville.

Katie Rose Janecka was born on Dec. 8, 1980 to Margie and Ed Janecka. She had one older brother (Joe) at that time. Then followed by two more brothers and one sister (Charlie, John, and Elizabeth). Katie graduated from St. Michael Catholic School in 1995, then Weimar High School in 1999. She was, among other things, involved in FFA, Theater, and Volleyball. She then attended Blinn College in Brenham.

Wilson Ray Huffer of Plum passed away peacefully in his home on Sept. 7, 2021 after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Rudy Mayer, 66 of Lincoln, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings with Rev. Richard Walker officiating. Burial followed in Giddings Memorial Park.

Robert (Bobby Joe) Sanders, 76, of Round Top, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021.

Funeral services for Ezrianna “Ezzy” Poncik, 20 of La Grange, are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Friday evening from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
