Edward “Ed” George Chovanec, 73, of Carmine (originally of Fayetteville) passed away from extended illness on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021.
Ed was born in Fayetteville on Sept. 4, 1948, the son of Charles and Marcella (Cmerek) Chovanec.
Ed graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1968. His first job after graduating from high school was working for HEB grocery store in La Grange. He then started his career for Blue Bell Creamery and worked in receiving and dry storage for the company. Ed was the proud recipient of Blue Bell’s employee of the year in 1996.
He enjoyed playing the accordion, waltzing and dancing to polka music.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Alice Chovanec of Houston and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Georgia Kossa and husband, George; Mary Mueller and husband, Wilbert; Frank Chovanec and Charlie Chovanec and wife, Wilma.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021 from noon to 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. A Holy Rosary was recited at 1 p.m. Funeral Services followed beginning at 1:30 p.m. with burial at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
